Journey With Us

Climb into the boat and get ready to leave all civilization behind to take a journey with our family on the winding Takotna River and into the dangerously remote interior of the Alaskan wilderness. Welcome to our home!

You can expect curious bears and moose waiting to greet you. There will be fresh fish on the menu for breakfast, lunch, and supper, all waiting in the fish net needing to be cleaned, filleted, and fried in Mom’s large frying pan. There is plenty of rainwater inside the rain barrel for you to strain for drinking.

When we arrive to our boat landing you might want to grab a bucket full of river water to carry up the trail to the shelter. Taking a bath is always nice after a long, sweaty day’s work of clearing brush, carrying logs, and chopping firewood.

I almost forgot to mention that the bears may stop in unexpectedly for a meal now and then.
